About

Conjurer and purveyor of graphic design, illustration and smiles.

A Picture of me

Like a seed, if something is nurtured, loved, and given all it requires, it will grow and hopefully blossom. In my case, I was given a drawing pencil, time to learn, and the patience of a doting and highly-talented grandfather, Arthur. It was therefore inevitable that I would end up in a career that was art-related (after deciding a career in the fish and chips industry was no longer for me).

After taking art at GCSE and A-Level, my next necessary step was a foundation course in art and design at Manchester Metropolitan University. It was here that I discovered my love for using imagery with text, and hence when I knew I wanted to be a graphic designer. I naturally took a degree in graphic design at Northumbria University, in the vibrant city of Newcastle upon Tyne. Here I did a general course, which covered everything from identity design, photography, packaging, illustration, and life drawing. We were even fortunate enough to explore old printing methods, so that we could appreciate the skill and time it took to produce a print; a technique that I still cherish to this day.

I nearly forgot to mention, my name is Victoria, and I have inhabited this sparkly piece of dust for approximately 41 years now (yikes). I was born and raised in Lancashire, but I now reside in County Durham with my wonderful family, and work as a graphic designer and illustrator at my own little business, Isle of Design.

Isle of Design, was officially launched in 2017, after leaving a graphic design job at Hewlett Packard. It has always been an ambition of mine to have my own business, doing the thing that I love the most. Isle of Design specialises in both graphic design and illustration, therefore, you can get a custom logo for your company, while commissioning a bespoke illustration for your wall! Whether I’m creating a brochure for your business, or an invitation for your wedding, the end result is ultimately the same – the desire to make someone smile!
